150-word bio

146 words

Jaxon Reade writes two kinds of stories and keeps them apart. The Daniel Reade Novels are military thrillers about a young Ranger, a warlord who keeps a ledger, and a valley in Khoristan that keeps calling him back; the series begins with The Second Voice and continues with Same Valley and Above the Line. The Read Standard is a series of aviation thrillers from the left seat of a business jet, beginning with Pattern Drift. Reade has been a pilot since he was twenty and flies corporate aircraft for a living. Raised in New England and at home in Northeast Texas, he gives his time to his family and his community, and goes looking for quiet on a motorcycle, in the woods in season and on the water at first light. He writes the way a good crew debriefs: plainly, honestly and without raising his voice.

300-word bio

310 words

Jaxon Reade writes two kinds of stories and keeps them apart on purpose. The Daniel Reade Novels belong to the ground, to valleys and ridgelines and to the people who carry a mission home with them. They follow Daniel Reade from a judge’s courtroom at seventeen to the Rangers, and back to the mountains of Khoristan where his father died, where a warlord named Sahm Jadid has spent twenty years studying how Americans respond under fire. The series begins with The Second Voice and continues with Same Valley; Book Three, Above the Line, follows Daniel as the Army asks him to become an officer and lead men from above the line he has always lived below. The Read Standard belongs to the air, where a small discrepancy can decide the shape of a whole day. Its first book, Pattern Drift, puts Daniel Reade, a different Reade in a different world, in the left seat of a Phenom 300E out of Scottsdale, with an engine that hesitates in cold air and paperwork that says it never happened. Reade has been a pilot since he was twenty and flies corporate aircraft for a living. Before that came a long career in uniform, which he mostly leaves in the background and in the books. Raised in New England and at home in Northeast Texas, he gives his time first to his family, who waited through the years when duty came first, and then to his community. When he is not writing or flying he is on a motorcycle, in the deep woods in season or on still water at first light, with the dogs never far behind. He writes the way a good crew debriefs: plainly, honestly and without raising his voice. The books are meant to be read, not saluted. They are on Amazon, and signed copies come direct from the author.
