Reading order

The Daniel Reade
Novels in order

Three books so far, one soldier, and a valley that keeps calling him back. Start at Book One.

The Daniel Reade Novels are military thrillers by Jaxon Reade, who spent twenty-eight years in uniform. They follow one man from a judge’s courtroom to the Rangers and beyond, and they are written to be read in the order below. Each book tells its own story, but the rewards build as the series goes on.

Here is the complete reading order, with where each book stands today.

Do I have to read them in order?

Same Valley is Book Two of The Daniel Reade Novels. It follows The Second Voice and can be read on its own, though readers will get the most from starting with Book One. Starting with The Second Voice also means you meet the warlord Sahm Jadid and the stream bed called Dar-i-Sang the way the author intended.

Where Pattern Drift fits

Pattern Drift is Book One of The Read Standard, a separate series from The Daniel Reade Novels. It does not connect to the reading order above, so you can pick it up before, between or after the Daniel Reade books. Its tagline: He flies the line. Or he doesn’t fly at all.
